In honor of David’s legacy, we’re brewing compassion, one space at a time.
Gather, share your definition or story of compassion, eat, drink,
and make merry.
My brother David's purpose was to raise awareness of compassion. He had big plans, some realized and others envisioned: tens of thousands of definitions of the word compassion in a notebook, the Compassion Corner Earthbench, the Compassion Tour, a blog, hundreds of videos, and a documentary. To honor his mission and legacy, we’ve launched a new concept: Compassion Cafe.
Changing the world isn’t just possible. It’s happening.
Kindness counts. And it’s happening on a massive scale. Headlines and news cycles don’t do it justice—but we do.
David’s most lasting definition of compassion had four parts: listening, acknowledging, understanding, and taking action. When we work together, we shape culture—for the better.

“To me, compassion is simply a reward for realizing that one’s personal wants are not all-important. Compassion is my favorite way to show I know this. So I guess it’s a tool as well as a reward.”
— David’s first collected definition of compassion, anonymous, June 3, 2009
“The healing power of listening—what a gift to offer another.”
— David H. Breaux
